How to check if your phone supports eSIM
Before buying an eSIM plan, it's best to check whether your phone actually supports the technology. The check takes less than a minute and needs no app at all.

What is an EID number
EID (eUICC Identifier) is the unique number of the eSIM chip built into a phone. Every device that physically has eSIM hardware has its own EID number, while phones without eSIM support don't have one at all.
EID is a similar concept to IMEI, except it refers to the eSIM chip rather than the device itself.
Checking via *#06#
The fastest way to check is to open the dialer and type *#06#, just as if you were calling a number. The phone will instantly show device information, including IMEI numbers and, if present, the EID number.
- If an EID number appears – the phone supports eSIM
- If no EID appears – the device likely lacks eSIM hardware
- Phones with two physical SIM slots will show two IMEI numbers
Checking through phone settings
On most Android phones you can go to Settings, then Network / SIM cards, and if there's an option like 'Add eSIM' or 'Add mobile plan', that means the device supports eSIM.
On iPhone, go to Settings, then Cellular, and check whether there's an option called 'Add eSIM'.
What if you don't see an EID number
If no EID number exists, your phone unfortunately does not physically support eSIM, and there's no software workaround for that. In that case you would need a physical SIM card from a local operator.
Checking for a carrier lock
Besides eSIM support, it's also important to check that the phone isn't carrier-locked to one operator, as that can prevent using another operator's eSIM plan even if the device physically supports eSIM.
